This week has been an exciting week in terms of my YouTube journey. Last week, I made the decision to start to outsource editing in order to save time creating more content. Due to this, I started to learn a few things about not only building a brand, but myself in general. It takes a lot to start to build something, and I think through this journey, Ill start to see where I’m strongest and what skills I need to keep growing and developing more.
In terms of staying organizing and being productive, I discovered two methods that work very well for me.
- Creating one “Core Task” for the day. On my google calendar, before I go to bed, I set an all day event for the next day with a task I have to complete before going to bed. It has helped me make progress and stay focused day after day.
- Emailing myself. Whenver I come up with an idea, be it for a tweet or for a new video, I would email myself with the subject being the topic and a quick blurb of the concept in a tweet. Now I dont forget any of my spontaneous ideas, and one of them even turned into a Twitter thread.
Apart from the cool systems, this week I discovered there were 4 different ways people are creative as per a 2004 analysis by neuropsyschologist Arne Dietrich. Im definitely going to do a full blog post on this.

What Went Well
- Implementation of these two methods above
- Created a system of hitting goals, filming, and writing.
- Sent out a Tweet every day and wrote a thread
- Reviewed all edited footage and asked for revisions
What I Can Improve Upon
What this week taught me, is that I need to learn how to negotiate better. Negotiation is a skill and I need to get better about asking for price. The next is about people pleasing. After I was sent the first draft of a video, I wasn’t super happy with the quality, but I was afraid to ask for edits and revisions. After some thinking and talking with my girlfriend about it, I ended up sending revisions and asking for them to be complete. I don’t know why I felt bad asking, but I need to get over this aspect.
Anyways, this week has been a fun journey and learning experience so far.
Enjoy the journey thats life, friends.
